Aimee does not enjoy coffee as much as I do, and prefers to obtain her daily dose of caffeine via soft drinks. For the last year or so, we have been looking out for well priced soda. We have several tips that should help you get your soda fix cheaply!
1. Purchase 2-Liter Bottles: I know these are not as convenient as the cans or the bottles, but if you can handle taking your morning soda in a travel mug as opposed to the bottle this will save you money! The two-liter bottles (on a per ounce basis) are the least expensive way the get your cola.
2. Store Brands: To some people purchasing anything but the name brand may be a non-negotiable, but for those who cant tell much of a difference, the store brand of soda may be a viable option. The Wal*Mart brand of Dr. Pepper (aka Dr. Thunder) can be up to $0.70 cheaper compared to it's name brand cousin. Generally, (of course it depends on specific store) the Wal*Mart brand of any form of soda is between $0.66 and $0.77 per two-liter bottle.
3. Stock-up if Under $1.00!: If you can find a sale on the two-liter bottles of soda that makes them 1.00 or less, go ahead and stock up on those products. Aimee and I will purchase five or six two-liter bottles and keep them in the pantry.
4. Take Advantage of Reward Programs: Coca-Cola has a rewards program (www.mycokerewards.com) where you can enter the code on the cap and redeem prizes. If you have to buy soda and if coke is on sale and priced the same as Pepsi we suggest you purchase Coca-Cola products. Aimee and I do not have a taste preference for either Coke or Pepsi, but the rewards program may make Coke a better value.
